For those traveling to the salt flats from Peru, there are a number of different options. Tours of the Bolivian Salt Flats being in three places: Uyuni in Bolivia, San Pedro de Atacama in Chile and Tupiza in Argentina. If in Peru, the most popular route is beginning in Uyuni.
If you are short on time and need to reach Bolivia ASAP, then you can take a plane to La Paz. From La Paz, a bus can then be taken to Uyuni, the Bolivian Salt Flats. Round-trip flights from Lima to La Paz take approximately 2 hours and cost around $215.
While the plane is the faster method of getting to Bolivia, it is also by far the most expensive. The cheaper option is to travel by bus from anywhere in Peru to La Paz and to then catch another bus from La Paz to the salts flats. While there a range of bus companies that travel this route, it is recommended that you make this journey with Peru Hop. You can reach La Paz from any one of seven locations across the country.
